Meet Tristian!

Tristian (“TK”) is an active 5-year-old with level 3 Autism, multiple allergies, and eczema. He makes sounds but does not speak in words or sentences and is learning to use an iPad for communication. Potty training is in progress. He receives OT, ST, and ABA therapy outside the home.
Meet Serenity!

Meet Serenity!

Serenity (“Ren”) is a social 10-year-old with 2q23.1 deletion, causing global developmental delays. She is nonverbal but communicates effectively using a device, modified sign language, and vocalizations. She walks independently but tires easily due to low muscle tone, using a wheelchair for long distances. She also has Epilepsy and Autism and receives speech, occupational, physical, and ABA therapy.

Meet Owen!

Owen is a sweet, active 3-year-old with Truncus Arteriosus, requiring a partial heart transplant at 17 days old. He is immunosuppressed and also diagnosed with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Failure to Thrive. He has a G-tube for illness, is verbal with sounds but not words, and receives OT and ST. Owen is an elopement risk.

Meet Noah!

Noah is a friendly 14-year-old with Kabuki Syndrome, causing low muscle tone, developmental delays, and heart issues. He has had five heart surgeries, including a transplant four years ago. Due to clubfoot and knee instability, he had right knee surgery 18 months ago and dislocated his left knee two months ago. He walks independently but tires easily.

Meet Mia!

Mia is a very active four-year-old with a diagnosis of Autism and seizures with developmental delays. Mia’s seizures consist of staring and tonic type seizures which can come on suddenly causing her to “flop” onto the floor, potentially causing injury. She is very mobile with walking, running, ascending/descending steps, and can talk to communicate her wants and needs. She receives ABA and speech therapies at home, PT and OT outside the home.

Meet Lily!

Lily is a 15 year-old girl with a very rare genetic disorder of “partial trisomy 9 with deletions and inverted additions”. Her grandmother, who helps care for her, reported that Lily’s exact medical conditions and expectations are unknown due to its rarity. Initial life expectancy was thought to be five years old with the inability to walk. Lily does walk independently although she needs supervision and guarding as she will swipe at items sitting on the surface, put everything in her mouth, or suddenly drop herself to the floor. She is non-verbal and dependent on all self-care needs.

Meet Kaison!

Kaison is a joyful five-year-old diagnosed with Glucose Transporter Deficiency Syndrome, a genetic disorder impacting neurological and motor development, resulting in global delays. He also has Epilepsy and Autism. His mother, Mariah, reports seizures are partially controlled with Kepra and triggered by heat or overstimulation. Kaison is vocal but nonverbal, without a communication device. He moves by floor scooting and can take supported steps.

Meet Ava Grace!

Ava is a 10-year-old born at 25 weeks (1 lb) with multiple complications, including hydrocephalus requiring a VP shunt and a 253-day NICU stay. She has speech, fine, and gross motor delays but is progressing well. Immunocompromised, she receives homebound instruction and OT, PT, and ST. Ava communicates through gestures, speech, and a device, uses a manual wheelchair, and is learning to self-propel.

Manny’s Project is Complete!

Emmanuel is a 22-year old with a diagnosis of Autism. “Manni”, as his friends call him, participates in swimming and tennis in the Special Olympics and enjoys playing music on his keyboard and horseback riding. He works for ‘Kids Making It’ two days a week and is participating in a program called Essentials at CFCC to earn his GED!!
