Christina was born with Spina Bifida, the curvature of the spine, and was also a fetal alcohol baby. She was found lying next to her mother’s body after her mother had overdosed. Luckily, there are individuals such as Betty. Betty is Christina’s aunt who already had two grown boys, but despite this, she adopted and has provided care from the time Christina was an infant.
Christina handles her disabilities as well as she can and with a smile on her face. Outside the house, she uses a wheelchair. Inside she holds on to furniture and shuffles along because the home will not accommodate a wheelchair. The bathroom has a 24” door and a standard tub with no grab bars.
Christina can now move about the house in her wheelchair as a result of the renovations and redesign. The bathroom was made handicap accessible through the addition of a shower that she can wheel directly into.
